Go in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Saudi Arab etc. You have No idea, how much hunger Muslims have for GOD. They think Allah is true God. But actually they are following Satan, No one is there to tell them the Truth. Because most of the Christian live in fear of their physical life. If you really want to win Souls for Christ go among Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus.

Dear kenfo0,Yes Jesus Christ did ‘teach’ from God himself & yes I would say ALL people do not understand the Bible fully this is why it is imperative to seek The Lord our God through The Holy Spirit; to be on our knees in prayer continually.Look at what man has (& still is) already doing to The Church.With my whole heart I affirm before Jesus Christ that all I have witnessed thus far is apostasy.(People going through the motions of religion ‘I used to be one of them’,but God will be their judge.
@zeff Prosperity SHOULDN’T be about you, is the correct phrase. The issue is that is often not the practice. If I live in a $100M home and have jets and ships and 20 cars, and give $10M to charity…is that living right? I’d argue not. The problem is, as we accumulate more, we can be altered by it…your vision of yourself and your deeds becomes distorted such that you say “well at least IIIIIII gave $10M! What did YOU do?!”, and there is the sin. The fact you could have done so much more.
I’m not sure I agree with Piper here. For one, I don’t see him dressed in rags (nor do I expect him to be). The Bible does not say money is evil. The Bible says LOVE of or SERVICE to money is evil.Money CAN be corrupting. The issue to me is that if your focus in church is “how can I have physical possessions in gross excess”, then you are sinning. God gave me an ability. I invent a product and sell it. I harm no one in the process and help others with what I’ve gathered. Explain the sin.
@cheryl Jesus preached. Obviously He saw a need. Many people do not understand the Bible. The Bible warns about the wrong kind of preacher. It doesn’t say not to seek their guidance. It states quite clearly though, that just because someone says they have knowledge doesn’t mean they do.
It is also interesting to note, that in exhorting people to follow ONLY Jesus, that you quoted Joshua (Joshua was a man). The ENTIRE Bible is a guide to living as God intends. People sometimes need help.
Prosperity is about going to be a blessing for someone else, to support missionaries, churches, rebuilding haiti and japan as prime examples.. or right here at home to help the homeless on your streets. Hmm, how much could I do with a million dollars vs 2 dollars? Not that having 2 dollars to give is meaningless, to the contrary.. yet if Christians have money to be blessed to be a blessing to others, we empower ministries to bring the Gospel to every corner of the earth. Blessed to BE A blessing
that life will be without trouble and we shall become sinless, the need for Jesus is indeed presented. And by the way? The love of money is the root of all evil, but money in and of itself is not evil.. and we need money to bless others, do we not? Haiti needs money to be rebuilt, Japan needs money to be rebuilt.. well how can I go be a blessing to Haiti or Japan when I can’t even make ends meet for my own bills?
Oh wait, I am supposed to be poor, right? Prosperity is not about you..
In listenting to the first minute and a half, I find that John Piper is in slight ignorance to the, “Prosperity Gospel” due to a couple things. 1. The prosperity gospel suggests that you will not have problems in this life, or less sin. 2. You need money to accomplish much, otherwise you cannot accomplish much in life.
Both are inaccurate claims, though I should digress that, YES.. some, “Prosperity Gospel” preachers do suggest such notions, but not all preachers under the umbrella suggest
